Fike’s Incredible Season Comes to a Close

The Fike High volleyball team was a champion of its own this season. The lady Demons finished the season with a record of 21-4 and the title of conference co-champions. Host D.H. Conley, contender for state championships, moved into the fourth round for the third consecutive year, ending the Lady Golden Demons’ INCREDIBLE season by a score of 25-11, 25-11, 25-8. Fike appeared in the third round for the first time in nearly 20 years. “They were very impressive,�? Fike senior Miya Mitchell said of the Lady Vikings. “We knew what we had to do, we hung with them.�? Added second-year Fike head coach Cassie Blackmon: “We knew they were going to be good. They execute and run their offense very quickly. But that is to be expected of a team that plays the year around, plays travel ball and has been playing volleyball together since the fifth grade. “
